Year Round School

November 13, 2012

Dear Red Hawk Ridge Community,

Over the course of the last three years and continuing forward the enrollment at Red Hawk Ridge has grown steadily.  As a result, the Long Range Facility Planning committee has closely monitored current and projected student enrollment.  Red Hawk Ridge was placed on "calendar watch" for the 2012-2013 school year.  This was communicated to the Red Hawk Ridge community with a letter dated January 27, 2012.

After reviewing Red Hawk Ridge's enrollment data, the Long Range Planning Committee recommended to the Board of Education to move Red Hawk Ridge to a four track year round calendar beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.

On November 12, 2012 the Board of Education approved the resolution to change the calendar for Red Hawk Ridge to a four track year round calendar.  This means that the 2013-2014 school year for Red Hawk Ridge students will begin in July, 2013.

In order to ensure that everyone receives clear and accurate information regarding the calendar change, Red Hawk Ridge will be hosting community meetings beginning in December.  Updates about the specific changes will also be provided in the school newsletters, website, PTCO, PASS and Accountability meetings.

Mr. Wurdeman and the Red Hawk Ridge staff are working closely together to make the calendar change a smooth transition.
